Soaring Free

Reading what Natasha inscribed on the new mug she made—Every time you learn something new, you become a better version of yourself—I learned something new about her. "Why do you want to learn something you know you'll never use beyond that?" I asked. "It's the experience, Daddy," she said, as if she knew it all. Likely not wanting to invite more questions, and avoiding telling me the cost of the pottery class, she hurried out. Natasha has always known how to get her way since she was a child. Now, I realised she needs to be allowed to soar free.

David Ngo lives in Malaysia, leading the editorial team at an educational music publisher. He loves writing stories and poems that bring clarity to life.
