The Best Day

December 8, 2020. More than four years ago my puppy arrived, a baby so small it could fit in my little hands. My mom came with him in her hands and when I saw her with him, I could feel my eyes shining and I started crying, I was so happy. I was shaking and when she put him in my hands I dropped him on the floor. At that moment I was desperate because he wasn’t even two months old and I felt horrible; a terrible "mother.” Today he is my most precious friend, and he always will be.

Ed. Note: Very occasionally, we publish a piece from a young writer. Isabella’s mastery of a new language wowed us, and we appreciated the journey she took us on in her first moments with her dog.

Isabella Tasca is a Grade 7 student at a bilingual school in Brazil. She has started learning English this year.
