Embarkation

It's 3:30 and the ship is still docked. Joe and I along with another couple are pleading with a security guard. "We still have thirty minutes," I say. "You're too late. Final boarding was at 3. There is nothing I can do." The other woman is now cry-yelling and cursing while her partner stands frozen in shock. A sheriff arrives to calm her down. Joe calls customer service as I pace nervously back and forth. No refunds, transfers, credits, or meeting the ship at the next port. We watch our cruise and money sail away with the other passengers cheering.
