Love You More

“Do you remember when we first started dating?” he had asked me. I had nodded, with a small smile on my lips before he finished his thought with a laugh. “I loved you more back then.” I felt the smile slip from my face and become mangled into one of understanding and sentimentality. We both knew this relationship was ending—that it probably should have ended a long time ago, but I had held on. It was clear to me now as I answered him, “I know. I guess that’s the difference between us. Because I love you more now”.
